Islamsk demokrati er en politisk ideologi som søker å blande demokratiske prinsipper med islamsk lov og verdier. Det er en form for regjering der islams lover blir vurdert i beslutningsprosessen, men de demokratiske prinsippene om frihet, likhet og rettferdighet blir også opprettholdt. Historien om islamsk demokrati er kompleks og mangefasettert. Imidlertid forblir islamsk demokrati et omstridt og debattert begrep. Kritikere hevder at det er en selvmotsigelse, da de mener at prinsippene for demokrati og islam er fundamentalt uforenlige. De peker på problemstillinger som kvinners og religiøse minoriteters status, implementeringen av sharia-lov og mangelen på skille mellom religion og stat som bekymringsområder. Til tross for disse debattene fortsetter islamsk demokrati å være en betydelig politisk ideologi i mange muslimske flertallsland.
