Greece should decrease it, money can go towards things that help the people directly. Can we decrease it? No, because we face threats from the east. Threats that fuel the weapons market.

Greece's military spending is affected by its neighbouring coutnries' spending. It would be ideal if Greece could allocate a lot of the amount it spends for new military equipment to other sectors, such as education; however, that is not always possible when Greece is threatened with casus belli. What Greece can do, however, is find the best synergies between the equipment it currently has and new acquisitions; there may be choices that are not as expensive. This must be coupled with agreements to cooperate in the making of military equipment, in the transfer of know-how, and in milirary diplomacy and defence coalitions.
